The Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the Verona Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Jefferson Independent Day and three for Verona.
Last Thursday, Jefferson Independent Day lost to Exeter on the road by a decisive 53-35 margin.
Despite the loss, Jefferson Independent Day had strong showings from Jack Twiss, who scored 17 points along with two steals, and Spencer Long, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Verona came up short against Exeter on Friday and fell 40-33.
Jefferson Independent Day has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 16 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-20 record this season. As for Verona, they dropped their record down to 5-16 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Everything went Jefferson Independent Day's way against Verona in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as Jefferson Independent Day made off with a 75-52 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jefferson Independent Day since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
