Thompson gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Valley City Hi-Liners 10-8. Winning may never get old, but the Tommies sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row dating back to last season.
The team relied heavily on William Welke, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Odenbach, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thompson will take on Northern Cass at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Valley City, they will venture away from home to take on Wahpeton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
