Basketball Recap: Union Grove Snaps 15-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After a string of five wins, Union Grove's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 48-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jones County Greyhounds. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Greyhounds apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Union Grove's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Adonai Dudley, who posted 11 points and four steals, and Layla Adams, who scored ten points. Those 11 points gave Dudley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was De'Jah Webb, who put up five points.

It was another big night for Mya Anderson, who went 5 for 11 en route to 15 points along with six boards and three steals for Jones County. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamiyah Adams, who earned ten points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Union Grove's loss ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-5. As for Jones County, their victory was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1.

Union Grove wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-13 win against Locust Grove on the 14th. As for Jones County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 68-47 victory against Eagle's Landing on the 14th.
