Baseball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Ryle's Winning Streak

Ryle dropped their record down to 11-5-1 on Monday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They lost 9-2 to the Simon Kenton Pioneers. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pioneers earlier this season, when they won 7-0.

As for Simon Kenton, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.

For Simon Kenton's part, Tyler Ruete made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over 5.2 innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave Ruete a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
