The Choctawhatchee Indians had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past Lincoln, posting a 38-7 victory on the road. The result was nothing new for Choctawhatchee, who have now won nine matches by 20 points or more so far this season.
Cole Tabb was his usual excellent self, rushing for 192 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. Tabb hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Isaiah Johnson and his 119 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Choctawhatchee's victory.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Lincoln to a paltry 133 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Choctawhatchee's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out nine times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Tristan Jackson and Ellis Alloway who racked up six sacks between them.
The victory (which was Choctawhatchee's seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.4 points per game. As for Lincoln, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3.
Choctawhatchee will head out on the road to face off against St. Augustine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Augustine is on a six-game streak of home wins, Choctawhatchee a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Lincoln does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
