The Greeley Central Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 58-37 defeat at the hands of Longmont. While losing is never fun, Greeley Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Longmont is ranked 92nd).
Greeley Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Madison Sepeda, who scored eight points along with five assists and four steals. Sepeda is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rose "suzette" Rivera-flores, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Longmont was led to victory by Kaila Patterson and Savannah Pohl. Patterson went 7 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and 2 assists, while Pohl scored ten points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Patterson has scored all season. Stella Rulon was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Greeley Central's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-10. As for Longmont, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Greeley Central will be playing at home against Windsor at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Windsor will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Longmont, they will head out on the road to take on Northglenn at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
