The Tuscarora Huskies will venture away from home to face off against the Woodgrove Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Tuscarora heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Friday. They fell just short of Heritage by a score of 6-5.
Chas Battaglia put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Brett Majkowski made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Woodgrove fell victim to John Champe and their airtight pitching crew two weeks ago. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 2-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Wolverines were not able to get on the board.
Dane Marsh was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, John Hays was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Coltan Dezarn, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Tuscarora has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Woodgrove, they moved to 10-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Tuscarora couldn't quite finish off Woodgrove when the teams last played back in March and fell 5-3. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
