Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Lexington Griffin and Latrevius Gant Lead University to Victory

On Thursday, the University Tigers strolled past City University School of Liberal Arts with points to spare, taking the game 63-48.

Leading University to victory were LaTrevius Gant and Lexington Griffin. Gant went 10 for 15 on his way to 24 points and five rebounds, while Griffin went 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points and five assists. Gant's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: University was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as City University School of Liberal Arts only posted four assists.

Tyler Reliford and Anthony Carrick certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Reliford went 6 of 15 on his way to 19 points and three steals, while Carrick went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points and six boards.

University is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for City University School of Liberal Arts, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-7.

After both having extra time off, University and Memphis School of Excellence Winchester will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for City University School of Liberal Arts, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sheffield at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
