The Tulia Hornets pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 72-58 fall against Alpine. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (55), Tulia still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Tulia saw an underclassman step up: Logan Becerra scored 23 points along with five rebounds. The game was Becerra's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaiden Jalomo, who scored nine points along with 11 assists and four steals.
Tulia has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Alpine, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Tulia's road trip will continue as they head out to face Saint Mary's Hall at 10:30 a.m. on December 30th. One thing working in Saint Mary's Hall's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven games. Alpine won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Stanton at 1:30 p.m. on December 30th. Stanton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1378th, while Alpine is ranked 556th).
