The Morse Shipbuilders suffered their biggest defeat since December 8, 2023 on Monday. They were outmatched by Medomak Valley on the road and fell 79-49. Morse was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-17.
Despite the loss, Morse still got an impressive performance from Trace McFarland, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Bustamante, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Speaking of assists, Morse were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Morse bumped their record down to 3-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Medomak Valley, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morse will take on Oceanside at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Oceanside's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Medomak Valley, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Leavitt at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. Leavitt will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maine Rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Medomak Valley is ranked 14th).
