It was a good run, but the St. Mary Central Catholic Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 54-41 to Gibsonburg. The result was an unpleasant reminder to St. Mary Central Catholic of the 55-41 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Gibsonburg got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Reece Walby out in front who scored 14 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Mcgough, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
St. Mary Central Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Gibsonburg, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.
St. Mary Central Catholic will be playing in front of their home fans against Hopewell-Loudon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopewell-Loudon is coming into the game with eight straight victories on the road, meaning St. Mary Central Catholic will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Gibsonburg, they will take on Woodmore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Gibsonburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
