The Magee Trojans pushed their score all the way to 67 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Crystal Springs by a score of 69-67. Magee has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Magee still got an impressive performance from Nicole Sandifer, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 13 rebounds. Sandifer scored a full 47.8% of Magee's points, the 19th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Saphira Troney, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Magee were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. This was only their tenth loss (out of 15 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Magee has been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Crystal Springs, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Magee will take on Seminary at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Seminary is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Crystal Springs, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Jefferson Davis County at 6:00 p.m. Jefferson Davis County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Crystal Springs in Mississippi (Jefferson Davis County is ranked 41st, while Crystal Springs is ranked 207th).
