The Cranston West Falcons will challenge the Moses Brown Quakers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last four games Cranston West has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Cranston West turned things around against Lincoln on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lions a 1-0 shutout.
The result came thanks to Logan Taylor's shutout, as he gave up just three hits.
On the hitting side, Cranston West saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chris Barboza, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Moses Brown, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against Cranston East by a score of 6-2 on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Quakers as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.
Will Haggerty was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Moses Brown's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 4-8 when he doesn't). Haggerty was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, David Murphy was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Tristan Lund was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.
Cranston West's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Moses Brown, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.
