The Clay Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Springfield Blue Devils at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Clay pushed their score all the way to 61 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They had to suffer through a rough 90-61 loss at the hands of Whitmer. Clay was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-28.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Springfield, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They were dealt a 66-38 loss at the hands of Findlay on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Springfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 701st, while Findlay is ranked 36th).
Despite the defeat, Springfield had strong showings from Drew Martin, who scored seven points, and Kai Taylor, who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taylor has scored all season.
Clay bumped their record down to 3-3 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Springfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
