Basketball Recap: Calvary Christian Comes Up Short

Calvary Christian was the 58-16 winner over Shekinah Christian when they last played one another back in January of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Calvary Christian Spartans were outmatched by the Shekinah Christian Flames and fell 55-25. The defeat leaves the Spartans without a win on the season.

Calvary Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kaylie Carter, who posted four points and five rebounds, and Kaylee Hurley, who put up seven points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Carter a new career-high in blocks (two).

Shekinah Christian was led to victory by Noelia Wanty and Haylee Beachy. Wanty dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards, while Beachy had 13 points in addition to eight assists and seven rebounds. With that strong performance, Wanty is now averaging an impressive 2.2 blocks per game. Eliana Wanty was another key player, putting up five points and three steals.

Calvary Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Shekinah Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
