SCISA 8-Man Region II (8 Man) recap October 29, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in SCISA 8-Man Region II (8 Man) this week, Carolina Academy beat Wardlaw Academy 40-28. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
Clarendon Hall took down Faith Christian 62-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Dustin Way threw for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 41 yards in the win.
The Saints' dynamic duo of Way and Tilton McCrea proved to be unstoppable against the Knights, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wes Keller helped Clarendon Hall's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 18 yards.
Caleb Hinzman provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Greenwood Christian fell to Andrew Jackson Academy. Hinzman's key target this week was Ben Pettit, who caught 3 passes for 31 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, King Academy's Alex Berry and Blake Sauls have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-10 quarterback Berry has thrown for 985 yards this season, while Sauls has 18 catches for 410 yards. The Hawks' Hinzman leads the league in rushing yards with 1,167.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between the Confederates and Clarendon Hall. Andrew Jackson Academy comes into the matchup ranked eighth in the state, while Billy Carlisle's team ranks sixth.
McCrea of the the Saints is just 79 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. McCrea has rushed for 921 yards on 105 carries so far this year.
