St. Edward is 0-9 against the Warriors since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The St. Edward Beavers will be playing at home against the Fullerton Warriors at 6:00 p.m. St. Edward comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Friday, St. Edward took a serious blow against the Wildcats, falling 45-14. St. Edward was down 39-11 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Meanwhile, Fullerton didn't have too much trouble with the Red Hornets on the road on Saturday as they won 48-31.
Fullerton can attribute much of their success to Jaci Maxfield, who scored 15 points along with six steals, and Georgia Bridger, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Maxfield is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Isabel Norman, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
St. Edward's loss was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-18. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.8 points per game. As for Fullerton, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-11.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: St. Edward have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Fullerton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
St. Edward was taken down by the Warriors 81-23 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Thankfully for St. Edward, Julianna Maxfield (who went 8 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 4 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
