Metro - Pacific Top Player Performances of the Week
Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!
Benjamin Moya Delivers Best Effort of Season
On Friday, Mar Vista got the W thanks in part to Benjamin Moya playing the best football he has all season. Moya rushed for 32 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 65 receiving yards and a touchdown. The performance marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in August.
Mar Vista's road trip will continue as they head out to face Southwest SD at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mariners got just the result they wanted when they last faced the Raiders, probably because Moya had a solid game then too: he rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 123 yards on nine of 15 attempts. Can he match (or beat) that performance?

Peter Thomas Delivers Electric Effort Vs San Ysidro
Mar Vista's six-game losing streak is now nothing but a memory thanks in part to Peter Thomas. Thomas was dynamite on Friday, rushing for 74 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 130 yards and a touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes. Those 74 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.
On the year, Thomas has thrown 10 touchdowns (and and only 2 picks) while averaging 117.4 passing yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after seven games last season, he was only averaging 32 passing yards per game.

Dario Garcia Turns in Season-Best Performance
Sadly, Dario Garcia posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead San Ysidro over Mar Vista on Friday. Garcia rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. The effort marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in October of 2023. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 80 yards.
Mar Vista had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Garcia it was a similar story. When Garcia last faced the Mariners back in October of 2023, he rushed for 214 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.9 yards per carry.

Southwest SD's Losing Streak Is No More Thanks to Conner Davis
Thanks in part to Conner Davis, Southwest SD said goodbye to their three-game losing streak. Davis was dynamite on Friday, making four total tackles and defending a pass. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making four total tackles and defending a pass in addition to snagging an interception.
Southwest SD pushed their record up to 4-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Davis will have a chance to log another big game when he takes on Mar Vista on Friday.
