In what's become a running theme this season, the Southern Wake Academy Lions gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past River Mill, posting a 82-40 victory at home. The victory was nothing new for Southern Wake Academy as they're now sitting on four straight.
Chris Crudup was his usual excellent self, scoring 40 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Seung Surmons, who scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Will Jones, who scored 13 points. Anthony Brown was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
River Mill struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Southern Wake Academy racked up 21 assists.
Southern Wake Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. As for River Mill, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Wake Academy will square off against Chatham Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chatham Charter is coming into the contest with five straight wins at home, meaning Southern Wake Academy will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. River Mill is on the road again on Friday and plays Ascend Leadership at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully River Mill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.
