It was a good run, but the Jefferson Academy Jaguars unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 43-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dayspring Christian Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Jefferson Academy of the 41-36 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elsa Nygren, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and five steals. Nygren is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Rylin Chichirico was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Eboselulu Omofoma continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Dayspring Christian Academy, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Omofoma has scored at least a third of Dayspring Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Faith Hayward, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Jefferson Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, their victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2.
Jefferson Academy will stay at home for another game and welcome the Mustangs at 1:00 p.m. on January 20th. Colorado Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season. Dayspring Christian Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Bison at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th. Averaging 54.56 points so far this season, Flatirons Academy's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so the Eagles better be ready for a challenge.
