After flying high against the Murphy Bulldogs on Friday, the Franklin Panthers came back down to earth. Franklin fell just short of Hayesville by a score of 62-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (59), Franklin still had to take the loss.
Hayesville's win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ava Shook, who scored 17 points along with seven assists. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Emma Ashe was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five steals.
Franklin now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Hayesville, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin and Andrews will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Andrews is on a three-game streak of home losses, Franklin a three-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. Hayesville is on the road again on Friday and play against Robbinsville at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th.
