The Monarch Coyotes will head out on the road to face off against the Cherokee Trail Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Monarch gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They put the hurt on Westminster with a sharp 55-34 victory.
Monarch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Colin Ryan, who scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds. Riley Montemayor was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 8 rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Legacy scored an imposing 56 points on Wednesday, Cherokee Trail still came out on top. Cherokee Trail walked away with a 65-56 victory over Legacy.
Monarch's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Cherokee Trail, their win bumped their record up to an identical 1-0.
Monarch skirted past Cherokee Trail 69-67 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Cherokee Trail's Keean Lloyd, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Monarch to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
