Seeger hasn't had much luck against Western Boone recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Patriots will face off against the Stars at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Seeger is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They never let Benton Central get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory.
Zoe Thomas made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, Lyla Badger was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Seeger was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Western Boone made easy work of North Montgomery on Wednesday and carried off an 11-1 win. Considering the Stars have won 14 contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Seeger, Western Boone also got a great game from a two-way player: Mickey Burns. She struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave Burns a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenzlei Mathews, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Raina Lutz, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
Seeger's victory bumped their record up to 17-11. As for Western Boone, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Seeger has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Western Boone struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Seeger suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Western Boone in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
