The Cedaredge Bruins won the last time they faced the Plateau Valley Cowboys, and things went their way on Friday too. Cedaredge rang in the new year with a 43-31 win over Plateau Valley. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Cedaredge.
Leading Cedaredge to victory were Carley Malinowski and Sammy Denison. Malinowski scored 17 points along with seven rebounds, while Denison scored 20 points along with four steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Malinowski has scored at least 25% of Cedaredge's points. Another player making a difference was Abby Brooks, who scored three points along with three steals.
Plateau Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Meloni Miller, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Miller is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Macy Bevan was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Cedaredge's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Plateau Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 5-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cedaredge will challenge Nucla at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Plateau Valley won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North Park at 1:00 p.m. on January 6th. Hopefully North Park focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Friday.
