The Coventry Oakers lost to the Middletown Islanders back in January of 2023, but the Coventry Oakers didn't allow the Middletown Islanders the same satisfaction on Thursday. Coventry blew past the Islanders 66-44.
Coventry's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyler Broady led the charge by scoring 20 points along with two steals. Broady continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Voelker, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 22 rebounds.
Coventry has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Middletown, they have fallen quite a ways from their 19-7 record last season and are now at 6-10.
Coventry will head out on the road to square off against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Shea is on a three-game streak of home wins, the Oakers a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Middletown will take on the Colonials at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. William Penn presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Islanders in their respective states (the Colonials are ranked fifth in Delaware, while the Islanders are ranked 32nd in Rhode Island).
