Early County has gone a perfect 3-0 against Mitchell County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bobcats will be playing at home against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Early County comes in on six and Mitchell County on four.
Early County's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 37-0 victory over Pelham. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 24 points or more this season.
Devonis Lee was his usual excellent self, rushing for 85 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making four total tackles.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Early County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 348 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 182 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Early County's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Lee, Kobe Lingo, and Ra'Keevian Lee, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Mitchell County beat Miller County 36-25 on Friday.
Early County better keep an eye on Jonathan Isom. He was instrumental in Mitchell County's win, picking up 147 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Early County's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Mitchell County, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Early County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 296.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mitchell County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 193.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Early County against Mitchell County in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 48-16 win. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
