Cummings hasn't had much luck against Chatham Central recently, but that could start to change on Friday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Two weeks ago, Cummings beat Graham 38-28.
Cummings can attribute much of their success to ZiLazsha Johnson, who posted 17 points, and Laniya Johnson, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Chatham Central against Graham last Friday as the team secured a 48-17 win. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 26 points or more this season.
Cummings better keep an eye on Karaleigh Dodson. She was instrumental in Chatham Central's win, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. With that strong performance, Dodson is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Goldston, who put up seven points along with six boards and three steals.
Chatham Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.
Chatham Central is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points per game. As for Cummings, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-4.
Cummings might still be hurting after the 56-34 defeat they got from Chatham Central when the teams last played back in February. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Dodson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Now that Cummings knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
