Baseball Recap: Santa Fe Has No Trouble Against Pojoaque Valley

Santa Fe barely beat Pojoaque Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went the Santa Fe Demons' way against the Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes on Thursday as the Santa Fe Demons made off with a 12-3 win. That looming 12-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Demons yet this season.

Santa Fe got a massive performance out of Darrell Carbajal, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Carbajal has posted since back in April of 2024. Austin Tokoroyoma was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3.

Carbajal wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Santa Fe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pojoaque Valley only managed six hits.

Santa Fe is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-6 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.5 hits in those games compared to only four in the others. Pojoaque Valley is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Looking ahead, Santa Fe is taking a road trip to square off against Los Alamos at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pojoaque Valley, they will face off against Robertson at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Pojoaque Valley has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
