Softball Recap: Gaither Wins Going Away Against Tampa Bay Tech

Gaither won the last time they faced Tampa Bay Tech and things went their way on Thursday too. Gaither put the hurt on Tampa Bay Tech with a sharp 18-4 victory. The Cowboys might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Kacey Wilkes made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Russell, who scored five runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Jeivany Taveras was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-5.

The win got Gaither back to even at 5-5. As for Tampa Bay Tech, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season.

Gaither is taking a road trip to challenge Jefferson at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Tampa Bay Tech, they will square off against Spoto at 10:00 a.m. on April 5.
