There's no place like home for the Gila Ridge Hawks, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They slipped by Kofa 53-52 on Monday. That's another feather in the cap for Gila Ridge, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
When it comes to explaining why Kofa lost, one person who can't be blamed is Calvin Barber. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Barber is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Elijah Braveheart was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Gila Ridge's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-16. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Kofa, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13.
Gila Ridge will be playing in front of their home fans against the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cibola presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Hawks in Arizona (the Raiders are ranked 120th, while the Hawks are ranked 248th). Kofa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
