Maynard and Clinton are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Tigers will host the Gaels at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Maynard lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Bromfield, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's contest. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Trojans a 15-0 shutout on Monday. That looming 15-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.
T. Lawton was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of M. Cede?o, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Maynard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, Clinton gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They blew past Fitchburg 11-1.
Jake McNamara and Brian Silvester were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, McNamara tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Silvester didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2025. At bat, McNamara got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Silvester went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Grady Frisch was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andrew Mortimer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Maynard's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Clinton, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Maynard might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Clinton in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
