Softball Recap: Oakcrest Sets Scoring Season-High Against Pleasantville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oakcrest). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Pleasantville Greyhounds a 27-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Falcons have beaten the Greyhounds the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Greyhounds has come to flipping the script.

Dakota Miranda made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Oakcrest let Trinity Brown and Emilee Richards run wild. Brown scored five runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Richards went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Richards has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chrystal Williams, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and one triple.

Oakcrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .698. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Oakcrest's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Pleasantville, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Oakcrest is set to face off against their familiar foe Atlantic City at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Falcons have won five straight at home dating back to last season, while the Vikings won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Meanwhile, Pleasantville will take on rival Bridgeton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
