Tava'Esina Albert was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Lily Rock was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Provo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .762. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Orem hadn't done well against Sky View recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Tigers walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Bobcats. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Kiley Hoshnic spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Orem let Andlie Allen and Cheyanne Wells run wild. Allen went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Wells scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Orem's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Provo, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Provo hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Orem struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.3 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Provo suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Orem in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
