The Aquin Catholic Bulldogs had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They blew past Pearl City 57-37. Given Aquin Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Pearl City is ranked 531st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Aquin Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Paityn London, who scored 21 points along with seven steals and five assists. London is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Megan Holder, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Aquin Catholic pushed their record up to 15-4 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Pearl City, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.
Aquin Catholic will head out on the road to take on Orangeville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Orangeville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Pearl City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pecatonica at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
