The Davenport Broncos can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. They put the hurt on Poinciana with a sharp 59-33 victory. That's another feather in the cap for Davenport, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Sorayah Emilien, who almost dropped a triple-double on 28 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. Emilien is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least four every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Kim, who scored 16 points along with five steals.
Despite the defeat, Poinciana saw an underclassman step up: Natalia Calderon scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That was a full 57.6% of Poinciana's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Keyanna Stanley, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Poinciana struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Davenport posted 15 assists.
Davenport pushed their record up to 10-3 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.3 points. As for Poinciana, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.
Davenport won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Cobras at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Thursday. As for Poinciana, they will be playing at home against the Kowboys at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
