Batavia has gone 6-1 against Wheaton-Warrenville South recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Batavia is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing St. Charles East: they outscored them in every quarter. The Bulldogs strolled past the Fighting Saints with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 31-13. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Fighting Saints recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Batavia's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brett Berggren, who rushed for 79 yards and one TD, and also picked up 53 receiving yards. Berggren really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Darin Ashiru was in the mix too, providing Batavia with two scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Batavia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 287 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
Meanwhile, Wheaton-Warrenville South's game on Friday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They put the hurt on Lake Park with a sharp 35-14 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 21 points or more this season.
Batavia better keep an eye on Owen Yorke. He was instrumental in Wheaton-Warrenville South's win, rushing for 204 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.0 yards per carry. Yorke's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 172 rushing yards. Justin Miller was another key player, throwing for 89 yards and two TDs.
Batavia's record now sits at 6-2. As for Wheaton-Warrenville South, their record is now an identical 6-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Batavia has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 190.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Wheaton-Warrenville South struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 216.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything went Batavia's way against Wheaton-Warrenville South when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Batavia made off with a 35-13 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
