Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) and Westminster Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2021, but likely not for long. The Stallions will welcome the Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) 3.8, Westminster Christian 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against West Broward on Friday. They fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Stallions have suffered since March 6th.
Taylor Rebhan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Westminster Christian came tearing into Tuesday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Sabres get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory.
Not much got past Kaley Dyer, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep St. Brendan off the board. Dyer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mya Rodgers, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.
Westminster Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive games.
Westminster Christian pushed their record up to 15-6-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Somerset Academy (Silver Palms), their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.
Both Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) and Westminster Christian just can't seem to miss. The Stallions have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Westminster Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) skirted past Westminster Christian 3-2 in their previous matchup back in February. Will the Stallions repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
