The result came thanks to Dani Rivas's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Landrie Hinrichs, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Liberty hadn't done well against Independence recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hawks came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 9-4. The victory was familiar territory for the Hawks, who have now won three matchups in a row.
Macie Webster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Ari Aguayo was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Cervantes, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Liberty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in ten consecutive games.
Liberty pushed their record up to 19-8 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Mission College Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-15.
