The Chipley Tigers waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They blew past Bay 57-33. Given Chipley's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Tornadoes are ranked 451st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chipley was led to victory by Marlee Sullivan and Kinsleigh Hunter. Sullivan scored 12 points along with seven steals and four blocks, while Hunter dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hunter has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Neveah Bellamy, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Despite the loss, Bay had strong showings from Aiyana Hunt, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Zoey Davis, who scored six points along with five rebounds and five steals. Davis hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Chipley's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.1 points per game. As for Bay, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.
Chipley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Bay and the Braves will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
