Lonzo Ball is the hottest name in college basketball and put on a visual masterpiece Sunday night in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The 6-foot-6 freshman point guard dropped 11 of his 18 points, grabbed five of his seven rebounds and recorded all nine of his assists in the second half to spur No. 3 seed UCLA to a 79-67 victory over 6 seed Cincinnati.
The potential first pick in the 2017 NBA Draft has been on the road to stardom since high school. Ball was voted the
10th-best high school player of the last decade by MaxPreps. He averaged 23.4 points, 9.3 assists, 9.2 rebounds and 4.7 steals per game as a senior in leading
Chino Hills (Calif.) to section, state and national titles. He was named the
MaxPreps National POY and spearheaded the No. 4 team of all-time,
according to MaxPreps. He also earned the
MaxPreps 2015-16 Male Athlete of the Year award for his accomplishments.
Ball will charge the Bruins into a highly anticipated Sweet 16 showdown against No. 2 seed Kentucky on Friday.
