The Chilton Tigers will head out to square off against the Valders Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Chilton's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Kiel as they made off with a 12-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
Lauren Roehrig made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Roehrig was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Chilton got a massive performance out of Maddie Tasch, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Gwendolyn Sell was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Chilton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 6-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Valders entered their tilt with Manitowoc Lutheran on Tuesday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Lancers.
Like Chilton, Valders also got a great game from a two-way player: Megan Hochkammer. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Hochkammer has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makayla Dallas, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Makenna Kaderabek, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Valders pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Chilton, their record is now 12-9.
Valders' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Chilton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .431. It's a different story for Valders, though, as they've only averaged .355. Will they be able to contain Chilton's hitters?
Chilton might still be hurting after the 10-4 defeat they got from Valders in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
