Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Laurence Manning Academy). They blew past the Orangeburg Prep Indians 19-4 on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Swampcats, who have now won five contests in a row.
Kaylee Parmenter Avins made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Avins was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Ashley Rae Hodge was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Marlee Black was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Laurence Manning Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orangeburg Prep only managed six hits.
