After a string of four wins, the Belleview Rattlers's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were dealt a 72-15 loss at the hands of Leesburg. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Belleview has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Belleview lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aaliyah Armbrister. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Armbrister scored a full 53.3% of Belleview's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Briyanna Miles, who scored seven points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Belleview struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Belleview's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3. As for Leesburg, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1.
Belleview will take on Lake Weir at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Leesburg won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Central at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. Central comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
