The Zalma Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Egyptian Pharaohs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Zalma has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Back in December of 2023, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Zalma made off with a 53-52 victory over Eagle Ridge Christian. The victory was just what Zalma needed coming off of a 80-46 loss in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Egyptian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 61-43 to Pope County. Egyptian has not had much luck with Pope County recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Damarion Clark, who scored 17 points. Brandon Plott was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Zalma's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5. As for Egyptian, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.
Zalma beat Egyptian 50-38 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Zalma since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
