Sangamon Valley recap September 24, 2013
Paxton-Buckley-Loda scaled the state rankings by moving to 231 from 280 this week, the biggest jump in Sangamon Valley. The Panthers climbed the ranks as a result of besting Watseka 41-12.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Paxton-Buckley-Loda beat the Warriors 41-12,. The victory was the fourth in a row for Jeff Graham's team.
Central's dynamic duo of J.R. Caspary and Luc Blume proved tough for St. Joseph-Ogden to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Caspary threw for 141 yards and 3 touchdowns and Blume had 66 yards receiving. Logan Podowicz helped Central's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 44 yards.
The Comets' dynamic duo of Caspary and Blume proved to be unstoppable against the Spartans, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
He was 7-17 with 1 interception.
Blume was the best wideout in the league this week as Central topped St. Joseph-Ogden.
Leanthony Reasnover was the best running back in Sangamon Valley this week. In 28 carries, he ran for 164 yards as Momence bested Dick Duval's team. Teammate Tony Greenwood added to the ground attack by rushing for 19 yards.
Caspary put up the best numbers in passing as the Comets topped the Spartans.
On the heels of Aaron Cantwell and Reasnover, the Redskins have had great success on offense. Cantwell leads the league in passing with 783 yards, while Reasnover has rushed for 448 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Central's Noah Frerichs, with 221 yards on 9 catches.
At the moment, the Comets are in second, while St. Thomas More is in third.
The Panthers made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,606 from 7,674. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 41-12 victory over Watseka last week.
