The Union City Indians extended their postseason success on Saturday against the Tri Titans. They secured a 49-45 W over the Titans. The victory was all the more spectacular given Union City's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Tri is ranked 121st).
Luane Schoonbroodt continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Union City's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Black, who scored six points.
Despite the loss, Tri still got an impressive performance from Rylee Boyd, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Kenley Cornelius was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Union City now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Tri, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-4.
Union City is on the road again on Saturday and plays Daleville at 1:00 p.m. on February 10th. Daleville will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Union City surely won't give up without a fight. Tri does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
