The Dunellen Destroyers waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took down South Amboy 35-19. Given Dunellen's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while South Amboy is ranked 334th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dunellen found their leader in underclassman Brielle Villanueva-Jadotte, who scored eight points along with 16 rebounds. Villanueva-Jadotte has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Wendy Woll, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Dunellen has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for South Amboy, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-10.
Dunellen will take on Timothy Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Amboy, they will head out on the road to face off against Keyport at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
