The Central Spartans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against Calexico by a score of 60-51. That's another feather in the cap for Central, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jared Martin, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. Martin is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last ten games he's played. David Lopez was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Calexico lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dany Carreon, who scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Edgar Mendoza, who scored 13 points.
Central's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-10. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Calexico, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will take on Imperial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Imperial is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Calexico, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southwest EC at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Southwest EC has now lost 14 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 18.
