The Floyd Central Jaguars's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Paintsville Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Monday, Floyd Central lost to Magoffin County on the road by a decisive 61-47 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Floyd Central has scored all season.
Floyd Central's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Chris Spriggs, who scored 12 points, and Ronnie Samons who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Paintsville pushed their score all the way to 64 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 65-64 to Prestonsburg. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on January 9th (57), Paintsville still had to take the loss.
Floyd Central has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Paintsville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.
Floyd Central strolled past Paintsville in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 65-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Floyd Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
