University is 1-0 against Rouse since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The University Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Rouse Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, University beat Elgin 27-23.
University relied on the efforts of Cade Bynnom, who rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns, and LaDarrius Evans, who rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Rouse had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They walked away with a 49-36 victory over Chaparral. Rouse pushed the score to 42-14 by the end of the third, a deficit Chaparral cut but never quite recovered from.
London Morgan continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 334 yards and six touchdowns while completing 82.6% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Keller Rogers was in the mix too, providing Rouse with two touchdowns.
University's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.8 points per game. As for Rouse, their victory on Friday bumped their record up to 6-1.
University didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Rouse in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, but they still walked away with a 21-16 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for University since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
